hah, funnily enough, no. my brain isn't really working too well today. couldn't think how to do it. thanks for the help though. the only way i thought of doing it was to scratch up a photo, scan it in, select colour range, choose the white of the scratches, drag into new doc, voila. but i just wondered if someone had a quicker way.
