    This was discussed a while back, I think, but I'll be damned if I can find the thread.

    I don't see this as being that different from Word or Powerpoint templates. Some people will always use a default shortcut, everyone else who pushes beyond will quickly appreciate how complicated it can get, and hire someone competant in. How else could Comic Sans ever get used on TV credits and titles? The 'modern' option on this HP thing has three colour choices - why the fuck would I be worried by this?

    Regardless, gimmicks like this can only raise awareness of the myriad opportunities available.

    As NeueDesigner, or whoever, said yesterday in a thread - designers are like modern day farmers - we work in a massively democratized industry, which will only become more so as the tools become easier to use. With fonts and clipart and an increased 'palette' of brands and styles to copy from (after a quick net browse) and an ever-reduced set of original ideas, we have to accept that design, for many companies, just doesn't have the cachet we might think it deserves.
