what society do we live in where suicide is still a mistake and not accepted like other diseases? doesn't it take all types.

I think suicide is classified as disease

The fact that she has pleaded insanity yet she got convicted, she failed to show due evidence in the court of her mental state.

It was her word that she wanted to commit suicide after the fact. From just simply reading the article I cant say she has suicidal tendencies or not in previous terms but regardless, as a society, the action that one person takes in order to harm one self, is not legal. Societal paternalism as law prevents self destruction. The fact of the case is that rather she was in a suicidal moment or not, she ended lives of 3 people.

As she states, she was sick and mentally disturbed during that period but she is not anymore. It would be unfair for the court and public at large to set her free because she was sick during that period.

If she was continuously sick, and she could prove that in medical terms, than it would be better for her to be in a hospital.

Mind you, because her mental state and she did not try to prevent the accident she got that sentence. Vehicular manslaughter on the other hand, you get max 1 year of jail with $1000 fine. This is when someone caused an accident with out knowing and have tried to prevent it but cause death.
