but going in to the field asking for a 30k is weak in any cities standard especially if you want to be a designer...

you can start at a low salary and slowly move up to what 50k in how many years??? fuck that!! ask for 50k today!! donthesitate, and if the client says you dont have experience then your work should showcase something thatt can sell you the more so.

i used to be in that world of no money at 28k in nyc for 3 years, it was hellish!!! you cant imagine1!! since then i learned that you can ask for any number you want, and negioate it.

thats whats its about, who the hell wants to hire a regular design thats a dime a billion dozen today when you can find someone who knows what they want and grabs life!!

    sound right??

for me its my moto today. demand salaries!

    and see what happenes.

who knows they may just say yes.

again outside of NYC this may not be true.

    biased and all..

    ;)

    edd-e,

thanks for the great response, this the way i kind of feel as well. i'll ask something, and then negotiate from there. i'd love to freelance down the road too, we'll see. I just feel, if one is a hard worker ( yours truly ), and has ambition ( yours truly ), is self taught ( yours truly ) + has a degree, good things will come. i guess we'll see, Dec. 16th draws closer ;). i think the biggest thing is i've been in school so long and done these internships, sometimes i feel i'll never get there and start making real money ( other than intern stipends )
