Head down the coast to Dubrovnik. I was there about ten years ago. It was still rolling out of the Civil war. Never been so close to bombed towns and savaged cities. Was very eye opening.
Dubrovnik topped it for me. It was just an amazing amount of history. If you are photographer you will get many beautiful shots. Split is also beautiful, a major docking port. We ferried over from Italy. Truly enjoyed my fews days there. There were so many spots we found, little digs I call them. We just stopped and enjoyed a little town.
You will have a great trip. Also as mentioned, make sure you take lot's of photos.
