Seattle has Snoqualmie, Baker, Stevens Pass, and a couple other mts less than an hour away. Tons of snowboard companies, k2, gnu, ride, morrow, coal, and great designers..patent pending, asterik. We live in west seattle right on the beach. There is surfing less than an hour away, sailing, white water rafting. I always thought Ptown was best for those too, but since i have moved up here, seattle has it all too. Wages are similar, and cost of living is too. Cool places(ie, west seattle, alki, wallingford, fremont) are going to cost more, but they are pretty cool areas. Portland is the same way. You can find cheaper places outside of the city, Gresham, Beaverton, but the city costs more. And music, pretty much the same scene. More shows in Seattle, and pretty much every band that plays here plays in Portland and vice versa. Its a toss up, but as i said earlier, Seattle has my vote, and that is coming from a native Oregonian.
