You dont have to worry too much about cleaning the sensor yourself, it has a glass uv filter in front of the sensor which is quite robust. Don't over saturate the swabs and do a couple of tests on some clean glass like a window.
All ways use fresh pec pads and solution. Most good photoshops will have the right copperhill cleaning kit for your camera (there are diferent types of solution).
IQ will be much better aterwards.
