The difference Chossy, is that in the days of pre 9/11 paranoia, polices forces used to have reasonable cause to stop and search - one of my school friends successfully sued his police force over an illegitimate stop'n'search around 1999.

In this case, it really is racial-acquiescence at work which equates to nothing less than a fundamental infringement of individual civil liberty for the remaining 95% of us. Maybe that's fine for the likes of bauts106, but it's not fine for me and most people I know.

Last world cup, I was pulled over at Luton Airport on my way home to Spain. Having just shaved my head, I thought it comical that they were quizzing me for what I assumed to be terrorism-related paranoia - turns out I just looked like a hooligan. My initial infuriation subsided and I had to accept their reasoning. The moral here is that increased security is only just and EFFECTIVE when it is employed correctly.

If stop'n'search is merely a random event - real terrorists have more chance of subverting the system and getting away with it.

For true Intelligence to paint useful pictures, it must be painted with the finest and most accurate of brushes - slopping tar over the national canvas serves no ones interest, other than that of a nascent police state.

Oh, and it may sound racist - but it's really not my fault that the vast majority of known modern terrorists have been tanned. Sorry - there's fuck all I can do about that.

    Quid bono?

(gosh what a load of guff - sorry about that)
