Nah..he IS slick. That's what I realized. The strategy of Cheney has been to have a front man (Bush) and then attack everything he wants all at once - while compromising the media and keeping and obstructing any attempt to find out real information.
The US press is compromised up the wee-waa, and the few that aren't are overwhelmed by the sheer number of incompetence/corruption stories that NONE of them stick. Cheney refuses to be paralyzed by any of it and keeps probing for weaknesses in Dems and the press while befuddling the general citizenry (who assume that all poltiiciains are corrupt and corruption stories blow over unless they involve a body - dead or sexually aroused).
The whole point is the corruption scandals that plagued prior administrations which brought them to a screeching halt aren't doing jack shit to Cheney - who is far more corrupt then even his mentor, Nixon. Sure they've been hovering at historically low numbers of approval - 26% for months now - yet still manage to get shit done covertly and having lying scumbags like Gonzalez and so forth smile and say "What? What are you looking at?"
I was trying to make the point before that Cheney just doesn't care about his flanks - he's daring people/press to investigate..he'll move three steps foward as the buearacracy takes three months to get to where he was..
