    I ran into problems hot-swapping batteries when not on mains power with a MacBookPro... took me a while to work out you need to put it to sleep, wait for the light to start throbbing (meaning its finished writing to disk), then its safe to swap batteries and wake it up.

    Applecare tech guy didn't even know you could do hot-swap on MBP (essential to me as I had a 400MB GoLive site file that took like 20 minutes to load if I had to shut down)

    Whole process was a lot faster on Powerbooks actually, some things got worse on MBP..
