Just tell them that you appreciate their business but you both might find it mutually beneficial to end the contract. Tell them (tactfully) that after X attempts at creating a design that they liked, you have been unable to please them while still carrying out the goals established when the contract was signed. If this doesn't end the contract it might be the kick in the balls they need to make a decision.
That's just my 2 dollars.
