Tables… bad?

Recently, I have had to edit a site that was done in tables...
I had to install dreamweaver because there were at least 10 nestings of tables at some points. It is madness.
I screwed the layout because some invisible something got too wide and I couldn't find it nor fix it.
Don't do that.
If you don't know CSS and are not getting paid enough to learn it, fine, but don't do that. It sucks.
Also, HTML is "supposed" to be the structure of you document. Technically if you use structural elements to influence the layout of the document, it is going against the original intent of html.
Don't go overboard with div's either.
A UL can hold it's own weight.
A series of P's with the same class can centered, given the same padding, etc, without being wrapped for that sort of thing.
Either way tho, do as good of a job as you can with what you are getting paid.
But don't do what I said above.
