    It's not that easy. The cost actually adds up to the amount of a used/refurbed mac. Like cacoe said, making sure you have 1. the right processor is key and 2. understand that you will be limited with components. the X86 project is cool but got killed off when apple stopped supplying driver updates. Which will be the biggest thing that hinders your progress. It's not as easy as some suggest and it is a pain to get going. once running, the cool factor wears off when you realize how much more work is needed...
