i've done something like this before. first i take the complete vector shape into flash. put it on the last fram of the reveal. copy it, then paste it into the previous frame. select the part you want to hide, then hit delete (using the selection tool, not the subselection tool). then copy and paste that into the previous frame and repeat. probably not the most elegant way to do it, but it's come out nice in the past.
