i'm not 100% in wit hthe whole LAst.FM thing.
But compared to pandora it offers a different service.
You upload songs creating a playlist for yourself and others..
can search and hear songs from anyones list [pretty decent selection]...Thats all i know so far.i'm new to the site and at work, havent had time to explore.
