In all honesty, there is no company that makes "death-proof" products. And not every product you buy will be problem free. The general theory is that only people who experience problems complain, while those who have positive experiences don't speak about it unless they're asked. Go to the Apple forums, and that's what you'll see.

(Mar 23 07, 06:02)True, except it doesn't change that fact that everyone gets Apple Care and has to use it before maybe even 1 year is up, whereas it seems to happen less with other MP3s (and I've never gotten a warranty type thing with any other MP3 player).
