Here's a question for you about kerning, Typographica:
If a font has bad/insufficient kerning programmed into it, and I use Optical kerning, is that good enough or is the Optical kerning option just rubbish?
When working with thoughtfully drawn and kerned typefaces, I use the default "Metrics" setting (i.e. Adobe Garamond pro, Thesis, Fedra, Gotham, etc...), although occasionally I use the optical option – fore example, I'm using Helvetica Neue UltraLight for headlines in a book at the moment, and they seem to look better with optical kerning.
Your thoughts?
