I have an older Harman Kardon 500W receiver that I bought off of Lemmy's Wart with 2 JBL front speakers and a sub box for $300 used, then I got the Sony surround kit for another hondo.
Works fine. I'm not much of an audiophile though, I just need surround. I am not trying to spend $500 on braided speaker wire and all of that other nonsense.
