I don't think the idea of socio-ethicv responsibility is anything new. And as far as the ubiquity of design & tools goes, I really don't see a threat to my viability as a designer. I think we should all keep doing our honest best to create solid work, quietly and humbly. Good design will always be valuable to certain types of people, and will always be inscrutable to some others. I think if designers are getting sour about clients who go for templates and stock photography every time, you know, the 'cheaper is always better' ethic, then they should look for new clients. They are out there and I don't see any sign of that changing. Then again I could be in a glass bubble, fastly approaching the cliff without detecting so much as a whiff of danger...
