exactly, there was hardly any depth to it and whatever attempts at being deep there were, were horrible (such as the power relations and the Queen being female).
Overall, great film at the technical level, but not something that will be "one of the greatest films ever". Most epics are this way...so yeah. Mainly for entertainment value - nothing too deep.
