Google has more than enough money and resources to make this a very difficult fight for Viacom. It will be a long battle if neither side settles out right.
That said, I am so sick of the 'old' media companies not adapting and realizing the value of sites like YouTube.
YouTube got me watching SNL again (on actual TV), introduced me to The Colbert Report (which I now watch on normal TV) and keeps me up on South Park when I miss an episode so I don't lose interest. It hasn't removed me from my TV, in fact it may have increased my TV viewing.
Just like movie studios charging me $30 for a new DVD and trying so many new schemes to lock it down. People pirate becuase the movie is not worth $30. Charge me $10-12 for a new release disc I would buy a ton more given it'll cost me $5 anyway to rent/VOD view it.
Wake up 'old' media!
