I totally agree with you, I think they are an old time way of introduction, and I also agree that they seem so fake. I FEEL fake when I write one, and it sucks, because I thought that the whole purpose of the interview and intro to a company was being YOURSELF, y'know? However, as much as I would love to do this, I just can't respond to a job posting that requires a cover letter with, "I am not giving you a cover letter because they suck, so sorry pal". Totally with you one hundo percent barbastic.
