what kind of problems are you having, humanmale?
one of the most common errors folks make is add too much water. no matter what volume the recipe calls for (ie: "top up to a total volume of 5 gallons"), always measure the specific gravity and add only enough water to reach the starting measurement.
i always end up with less volume than stated in the recipe.
