it's funny, during that time I was listening to metal as much as I was listening to rap.

(Feb 6 07, 07:57)I don't think that's funny at all..at that time both metal and rap were "underground" and had alot of similarities...all the metalheads I knew had Public Enemy, RunDMC and Eric B and Rakim jams in the car..still some of the best hiphop ever made..you could dance to it, it was hardcore (for the time) and had a message..
metal was outsider music at the time..kids today don't realize it with the success of metallica and all this shit..
I remember trading metallica demos back in 80, 81..and going to sneak out of my parents house to see them in some dive bar in Yonkers NY with Dave Mustaine..jesus...
You couldn't buy metal cred at the local Hot Topic store..
Metal died for me years ago...all this new stuff with the death metal growl vocals is silly...
