sorry for your friend.. he shouldve been careful..
but he still has a chance if he talks to them nicely.also you may be able to talk to a lawyer and see what they can do.. they could dispute some kind of fair practice or at least force the host to issue a reminder to their customers so it doesnt happen to anyone else in the future..
I know of a Uk based host that does pay as you go hosting..
you only pay for what you think you might use.. and if you exceed that usage your site goes down until you pay for some more bandwidth.. it works nicely since you dont pay for any bandwidth you dont use.. Ive had about 5 gigabytes of bandwidth and its lasted nearly two years.
