Hey I'm American and just moved back from living in Europe for 5 years.
If you don't know any languages, you're basically stuck to England, unless you find an international company elsewhere who speaks english in the office.
I speak German, French and Croatian, so I managed to get by fine. I live for 1.5 years in Germany and 3.5 in Croatia.
One important tip I can give you is that you should have a job secured before you go, or you'll have serious problems with your visa.
I had a contract sent to me from a company in Germany before I left. As soon as I got there, I went straight to the foreigner office and got my visa with little problem. But I had contacts already there to help.
Without contacts or friends where you are moving to, you'll have a hard time doing anything other than enjoying yourself until you run out of cash. :)btw, I'm just back to get my Masters in these troubled times. when i get what i'm here for, i'll most likely move back.
also, check www.fork.de. they are kick ass and are hiring. tell dave or tons hi for me.
