I've worked 5 years at the same ad agency in Southern California doing digital media design, and want to move next year.
Are there any Americans here who work/have worked in Europe? What is the best way to approach this?

for us people : the main gate is London of course.
there u'll have less trouble explaining yourself and making contacts.
now concerning visas it'll be the same everywhere..

see I told you them euros don't like americans... but hey I see it from their POV, hey I don't like when euros come over here and steal our jobs and women why should they like it when we go over there and do the same?

Guess using the word "euro" is just my ignorance, I never thought of "euro" as a derogatory statement.
There are a few places I am looking - mainly Dublin, Amsterdam, London, or Barcelona. Which is probably why I generalized to all of Europe. My mistake again.

but you can do that too you know, come here , get anyone you want, get my job, my house if you can affrd it.. no problem..

Sometimes I imagine Europe as some sort of utopian region.
Then I realize the grass isn't necessarily greener on the other side. And the terrible truth is that you will meet people like zef_666 everywhere you go.

I have friends who are German, French, Argentinine, British, Swiss, etc... I hope you weren't implying that I'm a loud flag waving American, cause I can assure you I'm not.
There are many reasons I want to go, one is to experience life in another culture.. Another is to get away from the bullshit mentality that many businesses have here.

it's funnny you know 'cause im'just back from a nice pizza place down the road.. i was with my girlfriend..
and there was 4 really good looking blond girls near us..
we saw straight away they were not french.. i did recognize the yawn yawn accent so i said hello to them, where are u from bla bla ...
they sais washington dc and another one said seattle i think.they were really friendly and receptive, un pretentious ..
they told me they were lookibng for a job , anything really and one was looking for a place to stay.
i gave that one on of my mates number : ha has flats to share or rent.. she was so surprised .. she sais thank you 10 times..
i gave the other my phone number , so did my girlfriend and we invited them for a barbecue this sunday.. they were all happy !just another story, just a little tiny example that noone is everyone, that people are nice when you travel far to meet them as long as you accept the rules and try to listen to them and understand what's going on..
if u come full on with your personal desires and your old thoughts about europe : noone ever is gonna give a damn shit about what you want and who you are..

my point is .. so many times girls.. women .. have less problem to go somewhere really different and meet the people and the culture of that place..
they don't need to show that great pride that most of us , mens will show at onetime or another..

haha, all business is excellent here! we have nothing but companies that keep telling you are the designer, you get carte blanche and an extremely flexible budget, and they treat you like a highly respected artist. CEO's here only want original playful sites with lots and lots of room for experimentation, and if you do well you get a penthouse in the secret city of wealthy designers walhalla, on top of that all the girls here dig you hardcore because you are a desi..* JANNE!!!
