the resolution of the image will always be dependent on the actual linescreen of the printed piece... anything screened at 150LPI or above you'll need 300dpi images or better.
anything screened below 150lpi you can get away 150DPI-250DPIBillboards have huge dots most billboard companies like MMT request files at 1/4 their final output size and require images to be at 360 dpi at that scale.
