I think it looks nice, and i wouldnt really change the layout myself, but one thing i just thought about...
bearing in mind your adding shadow to all the necessary components of the landscape (to create depth presumably), why not have a go at set building it on a very small scale and then photographing it? This can be a great way in whcih to create real depth to the imagery.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned...havent read through all the posts.
