Moneycide, there's more people in the world that would like to move to the US than living there right now - even on NT migrating to the US is a regular topic. I don't think I ever heard of Americans escaping on rafts. Moving to Canada is the easiest thing, only takes a decision. Americans have still a lot of freedom left, no matter how fucked up country it might be.
On the other hand, obtaining a passport in Cuba is very hard, depends on your cooperation with secret police and if you don't come back from abroad, your family is in danger.
Cubans are arrested in a country where nobody wants to move to.
