did you sign a contract, and did it mention anything about what the final deliverable was? if i can work it, i usually retain all rights to unused comps/directions. some of my clients are work-for-hire, by which i mean that they have the rights to all work period (and in these cases i tend to charge a higher fee). lesson to everyone to make sure that this is worked out prior to starting development.

(Dec 21 06, 08:25)In the contract it said I retain the rights to the source files. But in this case I don't ever want to touch this project again, so I'm giving the design shop the source files... NOT including my comps that were never used on the site. To me that's something totally different. And, how they asked for them... real shady to me. They want my work to use on some of their upcoming work and cut me out of the payment.
