i did this project for a flat fee. the fee was super good so i didn't charge for the comps.
normally, it's 3 comps, 1 round of revision to 1-2 comps. if needed, one more round of completely different comps but only 2.
this client was such a fuck they told me to go one direction, then, i didnt hear from them for 6 months. by that time they had hired a new salesguy who wanted something totally different.
3 more comps and he still wasn't happy. the dumb fuck pretty much wanted me to copy another site.
another comp using his specific input i said fuck-it and designed exactly what he wanted.
i even have the email saying basically if you get busted for 'borrowing' (as he put it) so much from your competitor, you're going down for it, not me.
anyways, the design shop i did the comps for wants all 7 of the unused one, cause they liked them so much. i know they're going to use them for future work.
no way.
they ain't getting them unless they want to pay for them.
