    i've done the second method, but it links the file and is way into fucking shit up.

    XML save works really good and you can just cut and paste a section of cells into a set in indd and in some versions you can just paste an array into the document and it'll auto create the cells. indd tables are the worst ... hopefully CS3 will make them less of a headache.
