Get yeself Font Explorer from Linotype and font manage with impunity.

(Dec 4 06, 12:06)and yes that too if you're using Font Book to manage a large collection.
and i'd recommend storing them on a 2nd partition or drive. fonts get damaged frequently, easier to isolate them on a volume other than OS X.
