if i had the resources i'd save some money over the 17" mbp and go with the 15" glossy version and max the ram.
then save some more cash and opt for the 20" widescreen monitor from dell.
this is actually the system i run at work. it's amazing and can't see myself working any other way. the dvi input to the dell is of amazing quality on the monitor and the colors are top notch.
at home i have the same monitor and i just take the mbp home and use it there too as my own.
love it.
