AFAIK, if a graphic app is able to export GIFs then the authors of the software have to pay some sort of royalty to UNISYS.
My only problem with PNGs is that they dont display quite the same across browsers.
see http://monkeyhouse.ca/colortest/… for an example.it looks fine in mozilla, but on PC IE the PNGs will be slightly different from their html background.
I would assume this to be IE's problem and not a fault of PNGs but it's still annoying.my two cents...
