I wouldn't call them lazy, they just want to provide good customer service by informing you that in the past their dealings with this ... these have been the results.
I don't think they were trying to get out of doing it, they were just telling you what their experience has been in case that may have changed your decision.
Would you want them to say that the type of purple you are using comes out pink when they print it from experience ... you know, just to let you know?
