i did a web site for the artist that tattoos me. in exchange he inked me for a day. i'm good friends with the dude, so it was more me doing it for free and getting some work as a bonus.
it's hard to explain... he really appreciated the project and it's proven successful for his business, but i got the vibe that it was in the back of his head that he was working that day for free.
i decided from then on to pay for my tattoos and charge him for any work. it's proven a better way to go.
point is, even the good guys hate working for free.
