I just have to react to the anti-times new roman posts. There is restaurant in my city called sprout. Their logo is just the name writtne in black (in times) on a white background. Their signage is a big white light box with sprout written in times on it, their menus (which are constantly changing) are just a sheet of white paper with the day's menu printed (out of word i assume) entirely in times new roman. And they have a big a2 poster in the window with the menu printed again (although substantially larger this time) in black times new roman on plain white paper. These combined assualts of times new roman make the place look fucking hot! They send a clear message that their food is of primary importance over all else. So before you go hating on times new roman and other specific typefaces or effects just think about their context for a moment. Whoever designed their branding did a damn fine job and expertley manipulated a typeface that some of you hate so much to create a very intense emotional impact, and also left it open to be updated daily using stock standard word processing software. Sorry for the rant, but i love that place :)
