I'm hoping they developed a story that plays like a movie and not just a stretched out 22 minute episode.

that's exactly what that whole part with homer seemed like. I'm a huge fan of the Simpsons. I haven't watched much of the new stuff the last 2 or 3 years, but I'll probably still go catch the movie.
