uh, i thought by law an employer can not bad mouth you like that. even if you're a complete asshole an employer has to give you a good reference. now...

to be honest, 99.9% of places you're interviewing with know most likely your present company will not be used as a reference. cause if you do use your present company and interview, then your current company knows you're interviewing and bad things happen. when i interviewed here they asked if they could call my current company and before i answered they said 'it's ok to say no, everyone says no'.

never. i repeat never, user your current employer as a reference.

but since you did i'd try my best to smooth things over with the place you interviewed at without being negative towards the person who gave you a crappy reference.

and if it's really chapping your ass go to the person who gave you the shitty reference and talk to them about it, but beware, that ain't gonna end good and as a gambling man, i'd bet you won't have a job when you leave their office.

don't put all your eggs into one basket. get a new job first, tell your new employer that you won't be able to start for two weeks (as it's good guy policy to put in your two weeks with a company cause it makes you look good) then go in and tell your boss to kiss your fucking ass.

then enjoy your two weeks off and get some housework done.
