The first mistake was to use your current employer as a reference. Its not suprising their sand-bagging your attempt to move on.
Secondly, I can see why you are leaving, what a lying bastard to say those things.
Advice: No matter how pissed off you are, never let your reaction to a situation be not in your best interest.
Quitting might seem an option but if that puts your financially under the pump, especially with a small child then don't do it. Make sure you do whats best for you and leave when you're ready, and not let a wanker employer force you into that decision.
6 months from now when its all behind you, you'll see that putting up with some shit for the sake of financial stability was well worth it.
