if i recall correctly (never used it myself) you cannot compose gold truthfully. the trick is to simulate it by creating a triangle of colours or something that the eye interprets as one colour but is in fact 3. i've read this somewhere.

----------------------------i can't remember where it was, sorry. maybe in some oil paint book. the idea was that as you cannot replicate "purpurinas" (i have no english for this) you have to simulate the solid color of the pigment + the refraction itself, light intensity, etc.
