Luckily for the most part here we are regarded as one of the software engineers. The code we own is the graphics. We don't touch advertising though. I believe we farm that out to Ogilvy & Mather among others. Thats a whole other part of the company that works with that. But I think the distinction as a software engineer makes all the difference since we are part of the development process and not just a job shop. Also means we are on the same pay scale which is nice.
