    nah it's not silly atall, basically you have the correct files to give them.
    Programs and dvd's and basically most things broadcast at 720, 576 or 768 x 576, so what happens is the picture is reduced in height to compensate for the oval shape you have created. Therefore broadcasting in 16:9 LB (letter Box) or commonly referred to as widescreen.
    So if you have an animation of 1024 x 576 it is in widescreen format but not anamorphic, so when popped into a 720 or 768 by 576 screen it will distort to become full height anamorphic.

    Basically the dudes who are using your anim will import it into their project and tell the editing sytem depending on what it is that the files are 16:9 anamorphic as you have supplied them, alternatively if you supplied them 1024 then they would not need to tell the system it is anamorphic and yada yada yada.
