careful underexposing your raws as you will get noise in your shadows.
I wouldn't tke the 20d past 400 iso.Just use a tripod and drag your shutter speed.
Also, true that you can push RAW 2 stops, but i believe that pushing it over 1 stop starts to affect your file in a negative way.
But always shoot RAW never never never jpg.
