Don't do a 1-pager, not even for the fact that so many people have them, but it doesn't show much imagination, resourcefulness or creativity and rarely does the work justice....

(Oct 16 06, 02:10)I disagree, I don't think it's any less creative having a one pager that shows a good flow to the work and thought process involved in making it.
It's no different to saying that having a site with a navigation down the left and a logo top left is unoriginal.

In terms of the job market, I can only speak for myself and I've found that my one pager has worked really well for me in getting interviews as I'm also on the lookout after being made redundant.
The one pager works well because if it's done well then it's immediate impact.
Baskerville's site at the moment asks the viewer to click a couple of times before seeing any examples of the great work that's hidden away.
Most people who are looking for work are inevitably going to have to deal with recruitment agents. These people don't click through, they want to see something snazzy right away otherwise they'll think twice about sending you to their clients.
The other benefit is that the employer who's going to interview you has a simple reference they only need to print once for it to be sat on their desk when looking through cvs/folios.
I don't think they lack imagination, I think they offer a very good way of presenting a lot of information concisely.
Good luck!
