I have a 20D and love it, however, if you are buying now I would just go with the 30D. The extra features are worth the few hundred extra. Some advantages the 30D has over the 20D are:
- ISO 0.3 EV steps vs 1.0 on the 20D
-Larger, higher res display
-Larger image buffer
-30D has spot meteringThe acutal image quality is basically the same though, as the underlying APS-C sensor/ DIGIC II processing is the same on both the 20d and 30d.
