Saw it Tuesday. Really great, great animation.
But was anyone left a little depressed by the story? I don't think these days you'd see a live-acted movie deal with themes like that: Two happy parents, happy about having children, the mother gets murdered along with all but one child, the father is left a widower to raise the child on his own, the father is over protective and the child resents that, so the child says he hates him, tries to show that he is brave in doing something, is kidnapped, is sad, out of his element and normal home, wanting to be back with his dad. The dad wants the same thing while still dealing with his insecurities, issues of trust, etc. Eventually all is well but, wow, if that wouldn't be the most depressing and sad live acted movie...And this one was directed at kids...

All I'm saying is, there are some pretty big themes in there, and it's odd how animation lessens the severity of it to some extent.
