I don't get this. Illustrator is a drawing program and Indesign is a layout program. Quark is not in the same league as Indesign in terms of usability. Use Indesign as much as possible since it's designed for layout, don't worry it has all the Illustrator stuff in it that you'll need. Trust me, once you learn it, you love it.
